.... in which the term "cloud computing" is trademarked. Sound absurd? Not only is it not absurd, Dell is in the final stages of gaining that very trademark. Had anyone else heard of this? This comes via an InfoWorld post.
The post does say that the trademark, now looking like a done deal for approval, could be disputed. Quote: 'Third parties "can still petition to cancel the registration on the ground that the mark is merely descriptive," said Peter S. Sloane, an attorney at Ostrolenk Faber, an intellectual property law firm in New York, in an e-mail.'
I'd guess it will be disputed, though I wonder who would be willing to shell out the lawyers' fees to rescue the term from the evil clutches of Dell.
