I came across this new web 2.0 tool that looks promising. It is called SimplyBox and a video demo is online. While this is not the first web snippets tool I've seen, the process of snipping, organizing, and sharing is pretty straightforward and could be very useful for collaborative projects. One of the only downsides I can see is that it introduces another browser toolbar into the mix.
I have not signed up yet to dive in deeper, but would be interested in giving it a try if other would like to join me.
Anthony.....just watched the video - and passed my threshold for wanting to give this a shot.
My big question is does the system support embed code - so I can create a Simply Box page - grab the embed code - and blog the page.
My concern is that it lives too much in it's own universe.....and is tilted towards sharing only within the Simply Box network. This is bad as very few apps get enough users to take advantage of this.....What we want is apps that can easily work with others.
If it did embed code then we could integrate with Blackboard (blogs / wikis). This integration point is quickly becoming a must-have for a useful Web 2.0 tool.
But again...worth trying out - and also worth suggesting to the start-up folks. I've found that they are very receptive to these ideas.....
Oh...I should say my other concern is if an extension like this will slow down my browser.....I've read in places that toolbars and extensions can slow you down - which would be bad...so I'll test on my development Vista machine (on Firefox.....as Chrome is my Vista browser of choice).
