Heard about this video on the NPR Technology Podcast.
Video was done by a NASA astronaut who was part of a team looking at barriers to innovation and inclusion. They decided that rather then putting out a PowerPoint or a document that they would produce something that would get more traction.
To NASA's credit they have put this video out on YouTube - another method of opening up discussion and increasing transparency.
Apparently the video is generating lots of discussion within the space community. I think that the lessons apply more broadly to Institutions....perhaps even to higher ed.
Another point for us is the power of the medium. The video can server as an effective change agent for a number of reasons - from the power of the visual and narrative format to the fact that it can be so easily shared and disseminated on YouTube.
Worth spending the time...and perhaps discussing....
Josh,
Thanks for this. After watching and reading the NPR article, I immediately forwarded it on to one of my management faculty at Clark. I think she'll appreciate it.
Speaking as someone who is now in a management position, these are issues that I want to continually be aware of as well.
